Introduction to the Roman Rosary

A Guide for Protestants

Rosary2.jpeg

The Roman Catholic rosary evokes, for many, visions of a superstitious grandmother, praying to an apparently divine Virgin Mary or Queen of Heaven.  It’s one of those practices that many of us think of as explicitly Catholic, perhaps incapable of being separated from an inherently Roman Catholic worldview or religious life.

Set those assumptions aside.  We’re going to explore the practice of praying the rosary as an exercise in imaginative prayer, something absolutely accessible and valuable to Protestant traditions.  This guide seeks to explain the rosary, rather than just tell you how technically to pray (or say) the rosary.
